We caught up with Emma to find out about her temping experience and what advice she has for anyone thinking about temping in the future.
Why did you start temping?
After graduating University in 2012, I was looking for a stable role to kick start my work experience. After trying other methods of finding work, Unitemps was recommended to me by friends, so I signed up. Immediately I was recommended opportunities for a variety of roles that would utilise my skills, and I’ve been with Unitemps for 3 years now.
What kinds of roles have you taken on in your temping career?
So far I have only taken on a role as an Advert Publisher for Jobs.ac.uk, although I feel that I could easily apply the skills I’ve learnt in this job to other opportunities within Unitemps. My colleagues at my current Temp job have been a big part of why I enjoy being in this role so much!
How did the flexibility of temping help you?
Temping means I have more time to work on personal projects and skill improvement, such as art, around my job. I know some people have used temping as a way to fit in a language course around their work.
If you could give temps one piece of advice, what would it be?
One piece of advice I would offer would be that if you’ve graduated university and you’re not sure of which route to go down career wise, Unitemps is a great solution. It enables you to try out different areas of work, gain skills in areas that interest you, and see what works for you. More importantly, enjoy yourself!
