Temp of the Month from Unitemps Griffith, Australia: Grant Glennie
Candidate: Grant Glennie
Degree: Bachelor of Information Technology
Current Role: Web & Design Coordinator, Academic Services, Griffith University
When he first met Grant, our Recruitment Consultant, Justin Ellis, found him to be quiet and timid but noticed that Grant had a very positive attitude and showed a willingness to take on any task.
Grant had never had a professional job interview before and had no degree-related work experience. Unitemps consultant Justin conducted a pre-employment training session and mock interview with Grant to make him feel prepared for the interview experience and boost his confidence.
Grant was successful in his interview and associated work test. He commenced working casual hours in Academic Services in the final semester of his degree in 2016.
Trained by the then current Web & Design Coordinator, Grant proved to be so capable that he took over the coordination role. After graduation, he has continued his role in Academic Services and is now solely responsible for coordination of IT, Web and Design for the entire department. He now comes across as a confident young professional.
Grant’s supervisors, his co-workers and Unitemps staff sum Grant up as ‘impressive’. His supervisors comment that he is very capable, eager to learn and experiment new things, contributes productively to the work of the team and suggests helpful IT and system improvements and innovation.
Grant was one of the candidates we showcased in videos at our Official Launches of Unitemps Griffith in early March. He’s a great ambassador for Unitemps and we hope that other candidates will be inspired by what Grant has achieved and how his confidence and workplace skills have grown.
