Description

We are looking to recruit a Backend Infrastructure Engineer for a Midlands-based company.

Our client is a small company that has a very prestigious client list including Siemens Gamesa, Vodafone, UK Ministry of Defence (Navy, Marines, RAF) and the European Space Agency, among others.

They have an R&D focus, particularly in the areas of unmanned air, ground, sea and subsea vehicles, control systems and sensors. With continued expansion of the company, they are looking to bring in exceptional individuals who can work through the complete lifecycle of projects.

Role will commence as part time during studies extending out to either a summer role, gap year or full time post-studies role.
* Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software (web services, databases, data processing pipelines, etc.)
* Participate in internal development tasks to increase efficiency
* Drive adoption of best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability
* Manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
* Proficiency in programming language(s) of choice (e.g. C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript)
* Practical skills with web frameworks (e.g. Django, Flask, Tornado, NodeJS)
* Practical skills with concurrent and asynchronous programming
* Strong understanding of computer science algorithms, data structures and computational complexity
* Understanding of software development life cycle and methodologies
* Experience with Unix/Linux networking and containers (e.g. Docker/Kubernetes)
* Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
* Experience with cloud computing (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
* Experience with microservices architectures

A Masters student who achieved at least a 2:1 in their Batchelors degree or a third-year student with an extensive portfolio outside of university studies, demonstrable via GitHub or some other medium where the quality of the code can be analysed.
Individual must demonstrate a strong level of detail and precision in their work as well as a capability of working to deadlines.
