We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Compliance Assistant who has excellent technical expertise, a good understanding of how systems work and an interest in working in a compliance driven environment.

Working closely with our WEG IT team you will help plan and implement system changes, and new software development, that will enhance our compliance with employment legislation as well as maintaining and developing our standard compliance monitoring processes using Microsoft Excel.

You will also be responsible for researching and summarising legislation for the UK and new overseas markets and for developing reports and audits to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

1. Systems and reporting
• To provide guidance and support to WEG IT to ensure Unitemps recruitment software and website correctly supports Unitemps compliance with relevant legislation and operational best practice including functional, configuration, reporting, referencing, document storage and scanning requirements

• To work with WEG IT to plan and implement compliance changes for the system or for new software development

• To be responsible for ensuring that all compliance reports are being run correctly, assisting staff with issue that arise out of them and ensuring that the need for any new compliance is identified and planning the developing of these

• To interpret any changes to Australian Awards or new state legislation and identifying any system rules or development needed to support this

• To maintain and develop standard compliance monitoring processes using Microsoft Excel using formulae and lookups

• To manipulate data to extract statistics and information needed for compliance purposes (for example the Unitemps Gender Pay Gap report)

2. Compliance
• To have up to date knowledge of upcoming changes to legislation and procedures that impact on Unitemps; appraising the Compliance Officer of these changes and helping to outline the implications and how they can be addressed and implemented through system and process changes

• To support the delivery of training for Unitemps and other WEG staff in compliance areas including both the use of the system and standard procedures; training provision for changes and updates to legislation ensuring compliance and the potential risk involved is appreciated, understood and implemented

• To liaise with clients and temporary workers to ensure that the compliance regulations and processes are understood and to aid with any queries that are raised

• To manage all incoming emails regarding compliance issues within Unitemps

• To research new legislation or legislation for new territories (recent examples include: Australia; Canada; South Africa; Scotland and Northern Ireland)

• To assist with any ad-hoc compliance projects for any of the WEG businesses

3. Audit
• To develop new audits as legislation changes or as required by the business or new WEG initiatives

• To provide a comprehensive support and guidance service to franchises; ensuring that compliance is achieved and where appropriate to review processes and procedures

• To manage the regular audit of Unitemps timesheets to ensure compliance with University processes and legislation e.g. overtime, AWR, Home Office working restrictions, Working Time Directive – discussing issues with and providing guidance to hiring managers if required

4. Franchise
• To assist Unitemps’ Franchisees and Franchise Relationship Managers with legislative queries

5. Cover
• This role will provide cover for the Operations Officer’s role including payroll and invoicing processes
? An understanding of system and process development is desirable, as is a logical approach to problem solving

? Experience of working with Microsoft Excel is essential including use of formulae such as look-ups

? You will also complete audits, check the integrity of our data and report on compliance issues in a timely and relevant manner so the ability to analyse and summarise data and present information in a professional format is also required

? Attention to detail is a key attribute for this role as you will be dealing with important and sensitive data and checking compliance with wide ranging employment legislation

? An understanding of employment legislation would be desirable as is experience of researching and interpreting legislation and writing processes
